Harry
As a Drama, English Literature and English Language teacher, Harry conveys his passion for English in dynamic, lively, and challenging lessons. His background in Acting (University of Manchester/Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance), has helped from his belief that storytelling is at the basis of learning in all its guises. For this reason, the classroom is a place of dialogic learning, in which literature and ideas are explored energetically and in which confident and articulate verbal expression is cultivated.
Harry’s career led him to teaching English Language (British Council, Mallorca), his PGCE in English (University of Sussex), and his current position teaching English Literature and directing plays at the Rafa Nadal International School (RNIS) in Mallorca. With this wealth of experience, he brings to bear an excellent working knowledge of and approaches to teaching grammar, two years of experience teaching Advanced Placement (US College Board) exams (or the equivalent of A-Level in the UK system), and an experience of teaching students at a range of levels with patience, understanding, and conviction in their ability to succeed.
A fluent speaker of Spanish and Catalan, Harry’s experience of living abroad, coming to understand the culture and literature of his adopted home has further instilled his view that the learning of language and literature is, at best, not simply the acquisition of skills, but the cultivation of a life-long ability to navigate the societies and cultures in which we live.
He is currently in his fourth year RNIS (Mallorca), teaching at the American School of Barcelona and, in his free time, you will find him training for or running marathons.
