Yes, you can find our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy, including our obligations under the General Data Protection Regulation.
Rather than relying on Wi-Fi alone, we encourage students to link their computer to the hub / router via an Ethernet cable. This makes the connection more reliable.
After the introductory session, confirm that your child is happy to proceed and pay for the first block of 6 tutorials. You can liaise with the tutor directly to schedule your sessions when suits.
For all students, we have child safety policies and procedures in place that fully reflect industry best practice on safeguarding. As the website develops, we continue to consult with independent child safety specialists. Students, be safe: If a conversation doesn’t feel right, don’t keep it to yourself, tell someone straight away.
To learn more, visit Thinkuknow. Parents, get informed: Thinkuknow has excellent advice that will help you keep your child safe. Detailed guidance for parents can also be found at Keeping Kids Safe.
Do let us know if you have concerns that your child may be at risk. Contact [email protected].
You should also contact your local police or Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre. Our commitment: We are committed to the safety of all Prep School Tutor students. We have a comprehensive privacy policy and all of our tutors are DBS checked. We will act swiftly to remove the profile of any individual who threatens the safety of our students or tutors and we will not tolerate bullying, bad language or inappropriate questions, conversations or images.
This depends slightly on the tutor availability in your chosen subject but, all things being equal, you should be able to start within a week.
This is by no means compulsory. Some students find that, if they don’t use a headset or headphones, they can encounter problems with keyboard noise and echo, which can be distracting. Try without in the introductory session and, if a problem, it would be worth purchasing a headset.
To facilitate the entrance process, a number of London independent Girls’ schools have formed a consortium. This divides into Group 1 and Group 2 and means that the entrance exam papers are exactly the same as all of the other schools in that group. Therefore, the applicants only need to sit one set of exams for Group 1. They can then sit another set of exams for Group 2 (these are organised for a different day). The candidate must, however, be registered at each school individually in order to be considered for a place.
Group 1: Francis Holland NW1; Francis Holland SW1; Notting Hill & Ealing High; Queen’s College; St. Helen’s School; South Hampstead High; St. Albans High.
Group 2: Channing School; City of London for Girls; More House; Northwood College; Queen’s Gate School; Godolphin & Latymer; St James Senior School.
Contact Prep School Tutor via phone or email. We’ll respond directly and suggest meeting a tutor and familiarising yourself and/or your child with the online way of learning. There is no charge for this
Tutorials are purchased in blocks of 6 tutorials in any one subject. When this credit is coming to the end, Prep School Tutor will notify you. If happy to continue, an invoice will be sent so that you can top up the credit before the next tutorial.
We believe that you should only pay for products and services you have received. We consider it fair that, if tutors have done their utmost to teach a student, they should receive payment. We also understand that sometimes tutorials do not go as expected, hence the Prep School Tutor Money-Back Pledge.
What we will do:
- If both student and tutor agree that the lesson did not go as expected, and that there should be no charge, no credit will be deducted and the session can be rescheduled. If appropriate, a refund can be arranged.
- If there is a disagreement between student and tutor, we will investigate and make a decision accordingly.
- We will inform you of the outcome of any investigation by email. What you need to do: Email [email protected] with the following information within 72 hours of the completion of the lesson:
- Date and time of lesson
- Reason for requested credit / refund
- State whether or not the tutor is in agreement
Any changes that we make to the Pledge will be binding and effective immediately. We will also protect the spirit of our Pledge against any customers we believe to be abusing it.
The tutor initiates, usually via Zoom, and then walks you and/or your child through how an online session would work. This can includes document sharing, trialling interactive material and ensuring the connectivity is sufficient. Basic computer skills are required but, whilst it’s an advantage to know your way around the keyboard, little is assumed.
Prep School Tutors are all qualified teachers, expert in their chosen subjects and with relevant experience. We recruit using the Times Educational Supplement (TES), which is the go-to job search paper for teachers and has an excellent reach. All candidates are interviewed, undergo a lesson observation and 2 references are required. We are open to applications at any time but the vetting process is the same.
An informal assessment of each student is integrated into part of the first session and is included in the hourly rate. Following this, the tutor will organise a programme of study to fit the needs of the student, always with the end goal in sight.
